About us
Overview
AQUILA is dedicated to enhancing sustainability and efficiency in the construction and engineering sectors. Leveraging the engineering expertise and global network of its sister company BBR, founded in 1944, and the advanced inspection and testing equipment technology of Proceq, established in 1954, AQUILA specializes in structural health assessments and structural asset management. This know-how and capability enable AQUILA to provide state-of-the-art technology that can be used to extend the life of structures and reduce their environmental impact.
-
AQUILA utilizes cutting-edge equipment and software for structural health assessments, offering a fully automated, paperless system that integrates various data sources into a digital twin for centralized storage and analysis. Key technologies include non-destructive testing (NDT) and ground-penetrating radar (GPR), which can be used to investigate the construction and condition of concrete structures and to map subsurface utilities etc. without causing damage or disruption.
-
AQUILA’s approach focuses on long-term asset care, supporting the maintenance, repair and retrofitting (MRR) activities needed to extend the life of structures and thus reducing the need for new construction and minimizing carbon emissions. The company’s solutions support real-time collaboration and remote assessments, optimizing decision-making and reducing operational disruptions.
-
AQUILA’s digital “asset management” approach involves the use of a cloud-based software platform for all relevant data throughout an asset's lifecycle. This system supports efficient data sharing and management, enhancing the planning of maintenance and renovation work. The platform also facilitates parallel assessments, allowing multiple technicians to work on the same project simultaneously, improving speed and accuracy.
-
The company’s structural and subsurface investigation technology is designed for versatility and ease of use, covering a wide range of structures and infrastructure. Typical applications include bridges, tunnels, buildings, industrial facilities, buried pipelines and utilities, electricity pylon networks, wind turbines, and historical structures. The company’s global presence, with offices in Switzerland, Cyprus, and the USA, ensures support for projects worldwide, offering localized expertise with a global perspective.
-
AQUILA offers a franchise model that supports partners in the use of advanced structural investigation technologies and enables them to quickly become proficient and profitable in their own markets. Franchisees benefit from the extensive know-how, experience and reputation in this field within the Tectus Group, enabling them to offer a full suite of services from structural assessments to MRR work. This model is particularly attractive in a market increasingly focused on sustainability and efficient asset management.
Summary
AQUILA’s innovative approach to the use of structural health assessment technology offers innovative solutions that enhance the sustainability and longevity of structures and infrastructure of all types. The company’s commitment to cutting-edge technology, comprehensive asset management and global reach positions it as an industry leader.
