Augmented reality – AQUILA style! 😎

Having seen in a previous article how easy it is to use the GP8100 ground-penetrating radar device to investigate what is hidden below the surface, would you like to see how we use augmented reality to show what was detected?

This video shows a screen recording made by the operator on his iPad straight after using the device as shown in the previous article – at the same location in the same multi-level parking structure. Watch how he simply adjusts the sliding scale on the left of his iPad screen to tell the software which depth range he wants to visualize (e.g. to show the top layer of rebar or PT tendons), and then lifts the 3D image out of the slab to view the rebar or tendons from any angle. The video really speaks for itself but let us know if you have any questions!

Following use of the GP8100 device to map the layout of rebar and post-tensioning tendons, the operator has immediate access to augmented-reality images.

2D augmented-reality views like this enable the layout of subsurface elements to be easily marked out and understood.

3D augmented-reality views are also possible which enable the subsurface elements within any specified depth range to be viewed from any angle.
